Participation of MEDSAL in the 48th IAH Congress
The 48th International IAH Congress entitled “Inspiring groundwater” was held in September 2021 in Brussels (Belgium). Hundreds of researchers and professionals involved in groundwater planning, management and protection coming from all over the world have attended the congress organised by the International Association of Hydrogeologists.
Among the others,4 research teams from MEDSAL Project, coming from Soil and Water Resources Institute, Hellenic Agricultural Organization (SWRI – Greece), Technische Hockschule Lübeck / Architecture & Civil Engineering, Laboratory for Hydrology and International Water Management (THL – Germany), Cyprus University of Technology, Department of Civil Engineering and Geomatics (CUT – Cyprus) and Polytechnic University of Bari, DICATECh Dept (POLIBA – Italy) disseminated the outcomes of MEDSAL Projects with four presentations.
- Ballaco et al. “Comparison of methodological approaches to describe the hydrodynamic response of a coastal karst aquifer: The case of Salento aquifer (Italy)”.
- Panagopoulos et al., “Groundwater availability forecasting for irrigation management”.
- Külls et al. “The isotopic fingerprints of salinization – A process-oriented approach”.
- Tziritis et al. “Identification of Cerium (Ce) anomalies in the groundwater system of coastal Rhodope (NE Greece)”.
The presentations concerned some intermediate results of MEDSAL activities, as well as novel research in groundwater management, socio-hydrogeology, karst aquifers, hydrogeochemistry, and managed aquifer recharge.
