The University of Tunis El Manar (UTM) is a public administrative institution created in 1987 under the name of the University of Sciences, Technologies, and Medicine of Tunis. It brings together the oldest Tunisian universities including the most diverse areas of training and research ranging from basic and engineering sciences to medical and paramedical sciences, juridical and political sciences, economics and human sciences. It is a multidisciplinary university including the fields of science mentioned above. The UTM, with more than 38000 students, consists of 15 institutions distributed as follows: 9 institutes, 2 chairs, 2 schools, 5 doctoral schools and 4 faculties including the Faculty of Sciences of Tunis (FST). The FST (whose full name is Faculty of Mathematical, Physical and Natural Sciences) was founded in 1960 and it is the first nucleus for modern teaching in Tunisia. The FST has six departments and 8000 students (all cycles) and 495 teachers including 145 professors. Today, the FST offers 4 Engineering Programs, 9 fundamental licenses and 4 applied licenses in different Specialties. In addition, the FST has a mission of research and research training (7 Ph.D. programs, 25 research Master and 4 professional Master programs and has over 4200 enrolled students (master and Ph.D.) in 55 Laboratories and research Units).
Based on its expertise, FST will mainly contribute to field studies assessment and specifically it will be leading WP2 which focuses on the “Collection and Processing of Data”. In addition, FST will contribute to hydrogeochemical evaluations and modeling, as well as on physical-based models and environmental isotope studies in the Bouficha test site area. Overall, FST will be Lead Partner in one WP and 3 Tasks.
